Booknote

UPDATE: June 9, 2014 - I am again offering my book at Round Up The Usual Subjects

Due to a quality assurance issue, I have closed sales of my book for the time being.  I find that I cannot trust that all copies of the book will be of uniform quality.  The issue is not with the content but the cover.

I'm not sure when (or if) the book will again be available.  In this age of print-on-demand self-publishing, the manuscript only exists in the bookmaker's proprietary tool, and finding a new bookmaker means recreating the manuscript from scratch.

If you own one of the 217 copies of the book now in circulation (95 inscribed), you may well have a collector's item on your hands.  Many of my sayings seem destined to outlive me, and people of the future may wonder just who this "Robert Brault" was.  Did he ever write a book?

Well, he did.  And congratulations if you are one of the proud owners.

~~ Robert Brault

  1. Oh, Robert....I'm so sorry to hear this! I was just getting ready to write about your book on my blog.

(I feel very privileged and fortunate that I have one of the inscribed books!)

Please do let us know if the situation changes.

  7. I'm lucky I have one. It arrived a couple of weeks ago (re-directed from the UK to France). It was a long time coming but I'm loving it. I should have had it re-directed to you first so it could have been inscribed, but what the heck, at least I have one.
I've been very busy of late and am not up to date with your posts. I've noticed I can subscribe by email now. Great!

  10. Hi Robert!
I am also very grateful to have one of your books. I appreciate all of the thought that went into each of your quotes, all the editing and organizing {I love all of the subheadings and themes throughout} ... and the wonderful cover artwork of your wife, Joan.
I do hope that the printing issues are resolved. I would love to order copies for my family. Please keep us posted!
Wishing you and Joan many lovely spring days ahead.
    ~ Maria

  11. Ken, I'm quite taken with what you've done with your Brittany retreat. Now I AM envious. You are a man of remarkable persistence.

It makes me happier than you can imagine, knowing that my book is in the hands of friends who appreciate it. I expect to know by late week whether I can confidently put the book back on the market.

    Smiles all,

    1. Your book is now my bedside companion. :) ...I would love it no matter what the color of the cover; however, I know how much of yourself you put into this book, so the fact that you want it to be perfect is understandable. Good luck!! I cherish every thought...and hope your wit will help to develop my soul. <3 <3 <3 ~Kassie

  12. I will have to check my 5 copies thoroughly and decide which of my brothers gets which one now! With Father's Day around the corner, I was planning on just handing them over with well wishes but perhaps there may be a "hidden meaning" in the cover they get! Hope it settles soon for you!

  13. Rita, I'm afraid the only "hidden meaning" in the book is between covers. Since you haven't earlier printings to compare, you won't notice that the gray cover background has done a gradual fade with every printing. My fear is that it will turn to a sickly off-white is it isn't reversed. We shall see. rb

  14. I ordered my copy back in April and after a delay in receiving it, the publisher notified me that it has been lost in the mail. :( So sad to hear that it will no longer be printed. Always happy to support your writing though, even if it didn't result in actually getting the book!

    1. Regan, I can certainly see to it that you get a book. Did you ask for a replacement? Also, I never saw a refund processed on my account. Is that still in the works? Let me know. I'm at bobbrault@att.net.
