A Message

I want to mention that I'm planning a new book, for September release, titled "Round Up The Usual Subjects, The Expanded Edition."  I intend it as a final, comprehensive collection of my quotes, containing the best from my first two books and a small increment of quotes I have written since. My aim is to produce a standard trade-size volume that I might offer to libraries and, perhaps, place in bookstores..

I plan the book in both hardcover and soft, in size, 6 x 9, slightly larger than the 5 x 8's I've been publishing.  I am bargaining with the renowned artist, Joan Brault, to supply a few illustrations (smile).

To buyers of my earlier books, I want to say that I don't expect you to line up to purchase the new book.  You have done your part already, and I ask no more.  I intend this book, as Shakespeare said, "For ages yet unborn" or at least for the 99.9 percent of the book-buying public who haven't yet run across my work.

Will I continue to post and tweet between now and September?  Very occasionally -- just enough to get you kind folks to check in once in a while, I hope.

Smiles to all,
rb

  2. Judy, you are unrelenting encouragement to this old fellow. I will resist the temptation to write ten more books and have you buy all of them (smile).

    1. Thanks, my friend. You'll soon have enough of my books to start a tag sale (smile).

  4. Well, the ONLY good thing that came from learning of Becky's loss of her beloved dog, Vern, is that YOU have a new blog up and running.

I'd have started 'Following' from the beginning had I known prior to 5 minutes ago that there WAS a beginning!

Happy to see you back online. 'Following' NOW.

    1. Stephen, old fellow -- have you really been gone the entire two years and two months? I started this blog, pretty much as you outlined, two weeks after the old one got auctioned off. Still had access to all my old stuff, so I put it all into my first book.
Great to have you back aboard, although the ship is definitely on its final voyage.

    2. Dang! It really HAS been two years! I couldn't believe that so I checked in my Dashboard (I never deleted your old blog's address from those I 'Follow').

Two years. Incredible! Wish I had known you were back in "business" so soon. (And, heck, had you not commented on Becky's post I STILL wouldn't know.)

Well, I've got a lotta catchin' up to do.

  5. I've got (and still regularly read) both your books and I'll be getting the new one too - probably in hardback!

  6. Jacie, thanks so much. I'm beginning to think that I owe a book of fresh new quotes to you and others who have read (and re-read) my first two books. Will post an update to my book plans in a few days.

  7. Robert, your quotes have brought me much joy. I bought both books and have read and re-read them several times. Great for the bathroom BTW. I hope you keep allowing posting on Facebook so you can reach a larger audience.

  8. I'm with Judy. I can and will buy it (several copies, I'm sure) -- because I love reading your words. They make me think, they make me happy, and I re-read often. xo

  9. Rick, Jan -- your kind comments reinforce the sentiment I expressed to Jacie -- that the folks likely to read a new book from me have already read the earlier ones and deserve some fresh material. Will update my plans soon.

  10. Space will be made on my bookshelf for the Expanded Edition Robert. It might be an compilation of the first two books but buying a copy is the least I can do to repay the endless pleasure I get from reading your words.

  11. Gary, thanks so much. Took a look at your site, and you are anything but a "tyro photographer," my friend. Those seascapes leave me gasping.

  12. I just want you to know that I have given your book as a gift multiple times to people who I know have shared it with others. I also use your quotes (of course attributed to you!) on Facebook and on my kitchen chalkboard to encourage and inspire people. You ARE and will continue to be an inspiration to so many.

  13. I'll get this one too! Any way I can help?

I am grateful beyond words for your support. What you offer me, more than anything else, is corroboration that my writings may be worthy of a larger audience. I trust your judgment in the matter. I intend to go forward with the compilation and then think about ways to promote and distribute the book. Smiles all, rb.
