Wednesday Whimsy

Let me put it this way -- I'm at the age where I'm increasingly drawn to activities that don't require my personal supervision.

Shuttlecock

Marriage -- a state of bliss where if one person dies unexpectedly, the other is the prime suspect.

Overheard:  "I like a politician who not only knows what I deserve but what else I want."

One thing you learn watching older couples in a restaurant is that long after there's nothing more to say, you still gotta eat.

Misery loves company and usually finds it, followed by a lifelong debate as to who was the misery and who was the company.

I dreamed I was at my own funeral.  I know it was my own funeral because I was the only guy there in a jacket and tie.

The problem with having a friendly debate is that it can lead to some very objectionable people thinking they're your friends.

When asked, "Do you believe in miracles?" a person of faith replied, "I believe in God.  It is the atheist who must believe in miracles."

You can wait for a miracle, but a better strategy is to meet it halfway.

The hardest unhappiness to uproot from our lives is that for which we are holding a paid receipt.

One thing you need never fear in a democracy is ignorance without representation.

Do things while you can and while they matter to you, because neither is a permanent state of affairs.

In an age when manners and civility have gone the way of dressing for dinner, you begin to understand why people dressed for dinner.

Weekend One-Off

The way you'll know that the U.S. finally has a woman president is that all the jobs the government does will just seem to magically get done.
