From the Observatory

It is unlikely that the American experiment in democracy will succeed if the human experiment in civility doesn't.

There is a tendency among people easily flattered to be easily offended,  and it is rare that they are not in one state or the other.

There are two lessons to learn from history.  Lesson #1 is that lofty achievements take lofty goals. Lesson #2 is that so do small achievements.

It is noteworthy that the historical document most dedicated to saving the world says to no one, "Go forth and save the world."  It says only to love thy neighbor.

No person of sensibility wishes to be praised to their face, but it is a rare person who does not relish being apprised of it.
